Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins today as new treatments and screening methods have transformed cancer of the breast from a virtual death sentence to an increasing survivable disease. That’s according to a study of women treated inside the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. In a report, researchers say 60 rice, a woman who received a cancer of the breast diagnosis had simply 25-percent opportunity of living ten years. Today the survival rate is compared to 75%. A team of researchers poured within the records of 1000s of women treated with the center since 1944. They claim for challenging version of cancer, where tumors have spread in the breast, the ten year survival rate was just 16-percent inside the period from 1944 to 1955. That figure jumped to 57-percent for many who were diagnosed between 1985 and 1994.
